Joella is currently completing her MFA at the New York School of Interior Design. She holds a BA in Studio Art from Carleton College, where her interest in creating functional objects first began to shape her design perspective. Her approach to interior design is rooted in the balance between spatial form—volumes and voids—and the practical needs of the people who inhabit those spaces.

Her artistic foundation lies in ceramics, where she focuses on form, texture, and the tactile experience of each piece. Having learned ballet from a young age, Joella draws inspiration from the expressive movement and fluidity of dance, which influences the rhythm and grace found in her work. Her ceramic forms often feature subtle surface treatments, emphasizing a delicate elegance that echoes across her broader design practice.

Influenced by the principles of the Japanese tea ceremony, she is especially drawn to the interplay of contrasting materials and the relationship between objects and their users. Whether designing a vessel or interiors, Joella explores how form, movement, and sensory experience can come together to create meaningful, functional beauty.
